1970s Women's Silk Haori. Grey /Teal, Orange. M/L/XL
Lady's haori jacket sewn entirely by hand in Japan in ca. 1970's entirely from silk (including lining). Soft medium weight silk. A muted teal/ grey backgound and an organic pattern resembling branches of pine needles or pampass grass in coral/orange colour. The lining is another lovely detail of this haori: pure silk, with stylized floral pattern in coral pink over off-white.
Haoris are lightweight jackets meant to be worn over kimonos and ususally not meant to be fastened or tied. This jacket has snap button closure at the front and square cut out collar line. No matter which way you choose to wear your haori, either as a dressing gown or a light jacket, you will not want to hide it away!
The haori has been professionally dry cleaned. Condition: very good used condition. There is a small stain on the lining inside (please see photo). Please note: while all our vintage garments have been cleaned (laundered or dry cleaned) and are properly stored folded in air tight containers, a degree of smell may be expected in any garment (even a new one) when first opening. Airing for a few days or spraying with a solution of water/vinegar should get rid of the smell.
One size fits all within the M/L/XL range but please check against the actual dimensions (measured laid flat buttoned up):
chest width: 22.5'' (57cm) measured under the sleeves.
The haori is almost straight, narrows only 0.5'' (2cm) toward the bottom.
length shoulder to hem: 32'' ( 83cm).
100% Silk. Dry clean, surface wipe.
